In March of 2010, Pat and I headed for our adventure in Belize. We stayed at a wonderful, small resort, The Singing Sands Inn, on the peninsula of Placencia, which is a 35 minute flight south of Belize City. There are 6 cabanas and a couple of rooms in the lodge for guests. The owners and staff make every effort to ensure a perfect stay. During our stay, we took 3 excursions, which included a visit to some Mayan ruins, snorkeling and a river boat trip. The inn supplied 3 gourmet meals each day - and, no TV, newspapers, or telephones! Everything was great!
They also arranged for me to get a guide for a half day of fly-fishing for snook in the mangrove swamps. I'm not a saltwater fisherman, but this experience might just turn me into one.
There was a perfect balance of activities and down-time for us to enjoy the resort, bicycle into Placencia, walk the beach, etc.
