Beau and Elizabeth July 1019

(Last modified: 7/20/19)

Not all who wander are lost.

Below are some some of the most recent photos I've taken of the family (mostly grandkids) or activities Pat and I have been involved in. If you're here, it's most likely that I sent you an e-mail referring you to this site. My plan is to only put temporary photos here and to remove the old ones when new ones are posted.

This week We had Beau and Elizabeth staying with us From Monday Evening until Friday morning. It was a short visit because they were leaving for a trip to Italy with their parents on Friday. It was a busy few days, with lots of activity and visiting with their cousins.

On Tuesday morning we went for a hike in Stephens State Park in Hackettstown.
Sofia, Beau and Elizabeth pose on a bridge that spans the Musconetcong River.

This curious fawn has probably not seen humans before. I'm sure moma isn't far away.

We saw lots of Indian-Pipe along the trail. This plant is not a fungi, but is parasitic.
It's hosts are certain fungi that get their energy from photosynthetic trees (mycorrhizal)

We picnicked along the river after the hike.

Elizabeth and I teamed against Sofia and Beau in a game of boccie.
Here, Elizabeth tosses the pallino to start a game. (see arrow)
After that, Beau and I played some tennis.

Wednesday morning we went bicycling on the Columbia Trail. We biked from Bartley Rd, in Flanders,
to Long Valley and Back. A nice ride of just under 8 miles.

We made several stops along the way to pick, and eat, ripe raspberries.
They are just getting ripe, but in a week they will really be ready to pick in earnest.

Thursday was a rainy day, so they just relaxed at home most of the day. Before dinner, Max
came over and we went fishing with Beau in a small pond in Flanders, in which Max had
obtained permission to fish. We all caught lots of fish. Max, Giselle and Sofia joined us for dinner
and later, Max and I went back to fishing and Pat took the rest to the county 4-H fair in Chester.

On Friday morning, Kevin and Lori came to pick up the kids and head to the airport.
They brought their vizsla dog Georgia to stay with us while they are away.
Georgia loves the water, and I took her down to the retention pond for a frolic.
